On the first day of the new year, Ragnaras Klavanas scored a triumphant goal for the "Liverpool" club and also secured a historic achievement in his country's history.
The defender became the first Estonian to score a goal in the "Premier" league, and Estonia became the 97th country whose representatives have scored at least one goal in the English championship.
Before R. Klavanas, only one of his compatriots had played in the "Premier" league: goalkeeper Martas Poomas, who played 138 matches in the league while representing "Derby County", "Sunderland", and "Arsenal".
Out of all countries that have had representatives in the English championship, 15 countries' footballers have not scored a goal. Among them are the Lithuanians, who currently do not have a representative in the "Premier" league.
