The Netherlands national team faces a challenge tonight in Switzerland, where they will face the 2016 European champions, Portuguese football players.
Ronald Koeman's Dutch team should especially beware Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 19 goals in his last nine matches, both for his club and national team.
R. Koeman understands that C. Ronaldo is the most powerful player on the Portuguese national team, so stopping him is practically impossible.
"He is an incredible footballer who has what many others do not," the strategist said. "He is one of those players who always scores goals - even when the team is playing poorly. He can take the ball and score at any time."
"Sometimes players like him do not need the help of other team mates to achieve this goal. There are currently one or two such players in the world," praised R. Koeman, a five-time winner of the "Golden Ball".
Asked about the affairs of his national team, which has not been able to qualify for any tournament for many years, R. Koeman said that everything needs to start from the beginning.
"We are no longer the best national team in the world. It should not be news to anyone. We should find ways to achieve something again.
We are playing with a new tactical setup, which gives players more opportunities to show their skills. I hope the picture on the field today will be better than it was on Friday," added the strategist.
