Netherlands national football team head coach Ronald Koeman is delighted with the progress of Memphis Depay and claims that he can already be called a top-class footballer.
M. Depay was already considered one of the best young players in the Netherlands in 2014, but his move to Manchester United in 2015 was not successful - in his debut season he played 45 matches, but in the second half of the season, confidence was lost and his individual performances were quite poor.
In the winter of 2017, the Dutchman went to revive his career in France. The step was right - Depay became a leader in the Lyon team and scored 22 goals in 51 games last season.
Currently, the footballer has established himself in the starting lineup of the Netherlands national team. R. Koeman does not hide his joy at his pupil's form.
"He is excellent, evolving into a top-level footballer. These are great news for us and for Dutch football as a whole. We need players like him who can create something special in attack.
Memphis shows his mastery both in the Lyon team and in our national team. He knows that I wanted him at Everton, we often talk about it.
He is the player you must give freedom to in attack. He excels in playing between the lines of opponents. He cannot be tied to one position. When he gets the opportunity to play his football, watching him is a pleasure," - the coach did not spare praise for Depay.
