R. Koeman: suspended J. Zirkzee – unnecessary for the Netherlands national team

The Netherlands national team strategist Ronald Koeman explained why he did not invite "Man Utd" representative Joshua Zirkzee to the "Oranje" team this time.

According to the specialist, the player has fallen into a performance slump in England.

"He did not make the initial list because I do not think the forward has shown good form lately.

We have plenty of defenders and midfielders, but for some reason, the national team lacks forwards. Nevertheless, even in such a case, one must earn the invitation," explained R. Koeman, who also closed the door on another "Man Utd" player Matthijs de Ligt.

The defender was left out (when he was healthy - ed. note) for the first time since 2017.
