Liverpool's "Everton" coach Ronald Koeman believes that Wayne Rooney, who returned to the team this summer, is still one of the best footballers in his position.
The former "Manchester United" captain has already scored great goals against "Gor Mahia" and "Genk" clubs during the pre-season, which, according to the coach, proves that his English mastery has not disappeared anywhere.
The 31-year-old footballer will have to once again demonstrate his value after playing just 15 games in the Premier League last season.
"He has a lot of experience," Koeman told the official Everton website. "He is an important player on the field, but also important for his teammates, especially young footballers, to show them what it takes to achieve such a high football standard."
"This means that he needs to be a leader off the field, and if I see how he works and what he does with all the players, that will be exactly what we want."
"So far, every training session and friendly match shows why he is one of the best in his position and one of the best footballers overall."
Rooney, along with recently arrived Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez, and Cuco Martina, will try to challenge the established elite of the richest clubs in the Premier League.
