"Barcelona" team has been led by Xavi for almost 4 months now. The former player of the Catalan club did not show particularly outstanding results at first, but recently the team looks better and has achieved very good results: both in Naples and against "Atletico" in the Spanish league. Currently, the season of this legendary Spanish club seems to have returned to track, with the possibility of competing for the Europa League trophy. However, it should not be forgotten that at the beginning of the season the team was still coached by Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman was dismissed from his duties after poor performance in the La Liga championship and failure in the Champions League, but in the last season with limited resources, the 58-year-old specialist certainly left a mark on Barcelona, easily reaching the top four and winning the Copa del Rey trophy.
However, former Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman was left with bitter feelings after leaving his club. In a recent interview with the Dutch newspaper "AD", the Dutchman criticized the new president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta. The 58-year-old coach and former club legend told "AD": "As long as the current president is in charge, you won't see me at Camp Nou. I just can't pretend nothing happened.
"The time Xavi was given was not given to me. That still hurts. I had many injured players. Now Pedri is healthy again, Dembele.., you see, he's playing too. Every coach needs time and patience from the leadership. Xavi got that, as well as new signings.
"The management pushed me to agree to part ways with some players, financially. But when I see now that they can buy a player for 55 million euros...I just wasn't the type of coach Laporta wanted. From the very first moment I met him, when he won the elections, I had that feeling. There was no mutual connection.
"He told me a thousand times that Xavi would not become the team's coach because he lacked experience. But he needed a mask, something he could hide behind," revealed the Dutchman.
Meanwhile, R. Koeman spoke about his future: "I agreed with my agent that we will look for new opportunities this summer. We will look for something interesting, something fun."
