One of the best attackers in the world, Robert Lewandowski, is not impressed by the "Ballon d'Or" selection - despite the fact that the Polish himself made it to the top 30, he does not understand the point of choosing such a large number of footballers vying for the "Golden Ball."
"France Football" recently revealed the names of 30 footballers vying for the best player of the year award. There is no doubt - the first two positions are already reserved for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, while the third footballer is still strongly debated.
R. Lewandowski, who stated that the most important thing for him is the success of the "Bayern" club, not individual awards, does not understand the point of selecting positions for those players who are outside the top three.
"I can't say it's something very important to me," - said the Polish about making it to the "Ballon d'Or" award list. - A successful performance with "Bayern," especially in the Champions League, is what really matters to me."
"In these selections, only the first three positions matter. That's why last year I was a bit surprised...
It's a bit strange when you play for "Bayern," you're in the Champions League semi-finals, you're second in scoring in the tournament, and you score many goals in the Bundesliga. I don't know what position I ended up in those years, but I found it a bit funny," added R. Lewandowski.
The star of the Polish national team in 2016 finished 16th in the "Ballon d'Or" selection, while Cristiano Ronaldo won the "Golden Ball" himself.
