“France Football” awards did not forget about Roberto Lewandowski.

The 34-year-old Pole was named the striker of the 2021-22 season. This award was immediately named in honor of the legendary German forward Gerd Müller.

R. Lewandowski surpassed Karim Benzema in this category because he scored more goals last season (48 compared to 42).

It is important to mention that in 2020, R. Lewandowski was the sole favorite to win the “Ballon d'Or” at the “France Football” awards, but the elections were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, as a consolation prize, the Pole was named the best striker of the year, only losing to Lionel Messi in the “Ballon d'Or” awards after a fierce battle.

In the same year, the “Barcelona” striker took the fourth place in the “Ballon d'Or” voting.

Also this year, “France Football” awarded the best club prize of the year, which unexpectedly went to the “Manchester City” team. The “Cityzens” won the Premier League, but exited the Champions League after losing in the semifinals to “Real” team. “Liverpool” took the second place, while the Madrid club only took the third.

“The Royal Club” won the “double” last season, as did the “Liverpool” team, who won the FA and League cups.
