Polish football star Robert Lewandowski was disappointed with the refereeing of last night's match between the Bayern Munich and Real Madrid clubs and voiced his criticism.
Yesterday in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Real defeated Bayern 4-2 after extra time and advanced to the semi-finals with a total score of 6-3. Referee Viktor Kassai from Hungary made several controversial decisions - awarded a questionable penalty to Real, sent off Arturo Vidal from the field, and counted two Cristiano Ronaldo goals from offside positions.
Lewandowski recalled all these episodes and criticized the match officials: "I think we could have fought for a victory and advanced to the next stage, but the referee made too many mistakes."
"Playing against Real Madrid with ten players is impossible. I don't think it was a red card. Also, at least one of their goals was offside. You can also remember my episode when I was alone against the goalkeeper and there was an offside call, which was definitely not there.
It's very difficult to play against Real at their stadium when such situations happen. It's very painful because we were close to the next stage, but the referee made decisions against us. After 90 minutes, we had a good result, but it's extremely hard to play with ten players for the remaining time. It's only for this reason that we are not in the semi-finals," - Lewandowski expressed his frustration.
