Before the main evening award at the France Football ceremony, other laureates were also announced. Polish player Robert Lewandowski, who is also a contender for the "Golden Ball," was recognized as the best striker of 2021. The Bayern striker scored 56 goals and made 11 assists in 48 matches in the Champions League and Bundesliga during the year. R. Lewandowski also won the Bundesliga title with the Bayern team, breaking Gerd Muller's league scoring record in one season. "Striker of the Year" is a new award by France Football, included alongside the "Golden Ball," "Kopa Trophy," and "Levo Jas'ino" trophies.
