Romelu Lukaku is convinced that the Italian football authorities were slow to suspend the Serie A championship. In Italy, the coronavirus spread at the end of February when football was still being played as usual. Later, as the number of infected cases increased, Serie A decided to cancel some matches and play others behind closed doors. Officially, the Serie A championship was suspended on March 9th, when the number of infected people in Italy reached 10,000.
Milan's "Inter" striker R. Lukaku is convinced that Serie A should have made the decision much earlier. "Health is always a priority. Why should we play when there are so many people in the world risking their lives," said R. Lukaku on Instagram. "It's absurd that the championship was suspended only when a player was diagnosed with the coronavirus. I won't hide it, I miss football a lot, but now the most important thing is people's health. Everything else is secondary," added the Belgian.
On this day, there have been about 14,000 deaths from coronavirus in Italy in total.
