Riyad Mahrez confirmed that he wants to leave Leicester City and has already informed the club's management.
The Algerian national team member helped the "Foxes" to sensationally triumph in the Premier League last season, but after not so successful fourth year in England, he decided to seek new challenges.
The country's striker scored only six goals in 36 national championship matches this season, while last year he managed to score 17 times.
"Out of great admiration and respect that I feel for Leicester City, I wanted to be completely sincere and transparent with them and therefore informed the club that I feel it's time to move forward," Mahrez said.
"Last summer I had a good discussion with the chairman of the board and then we agreed that I would stay for another year to help the club transition from fighting for the title to playing in the Champions League."
"However, I am very ambitious and I feel that now is the time to gain new experience."
"I always enjoyed good relationships with the chairman and every person in the club and I hope that being here I could repay the trust shown in me with my performances and dedication on the field."
"I played my best four seasons in Leicester and I cherish every moment. I feel a great sense of pride in being part of what we achieved while I was in the club, culminating in the Premier League champions title."
"The relationships I have shared with the club and our incredible fans are something I will forever cherish. I truly hope that they will understand and respect my decision."
Today, the sources of the football news portal Goal.com revealed that Monaco club wants to see Mahrez among them.
However, the 40 million euro buy-out requested by the French champions is too high.
For this reason, the main candidate to acquire the forward has become London's Arsenal, which the Algerian would also not refuse to move to.
