Showing excellent form, "Leicester City" right-back Riyad Mahrez says he does not believe that the club can win the "Premier" league this season.
Mahrez scored all three team goals in last weekend's match against "Swansea City", and after the victory, the "Foxes" returned to the top spot in the standings. However, both the previous manager Claudio Ranieri and now Mahrez himself in an interview expressed doubt that they believe in their club's chances to win the "Premier" league title.
"I don't think we can win the league. First of all, we need to reach the 40-point mark, and then we can look to the future," - the player spoke about the club's chances on BBC World Service.
However, if the club's results this season are a surprise to Mahrez, his excellent form certainly does not surprise the player. The 24-year-old Algerian has already scored 11 goals this year and formed a deadly duo with Jamie Vardy, who has found the back of the net 14 times.
"I'm not surprised because I knew I could do what I'm doing this year. Confidence is important in football. When you start scoring goals and it continues, it gives you even more confidence. Maybe that helped me," - confidently spoke Mahrez about his excellent form.
Currently leading the "Premier" league, "Leicester City" will play at home against "Chelsea" on Monday in the next round of matches.
