The Italians, playing at home, ended their Nations League match with a 0:0 draw.
"We pressed the opponents and never allowed them to have the ball. Unfortunately, we couldn't turn that control into goals.
"In general, I am satisfied with a great performance," the specialist said.
"It's difficult to press the opponents for the full 90 minutes in the way we did during the first 50 minutes. If you score a goal, the opponents have to open up gaps in defense.
"Although that didn't happen, this team proved that they can play football and do it well."
On Tuesday evening, the Italian team will face the U.S. national team in a friendly match in Genk, Belgium.
