R. Martinez does not blame the defense for the loss.

Liverpool's "Everton" coach Roberto Martinez refuses to blame the team's defenders after being knocked out of the UEFA Europa League due to a loss against Kiev's "Dynamo".

"Toffees" had a slight advantage of 2-1 after the first leg at home, but were defeated 5-2 in the Ukrainian capital, thus finally ending a catastrophic season for English clubs in international tournaments.

"Everton's" defense was breached by five different players, but Martinez wants the entire team to take responsibility.

"In the last two games, the defensive five was very strong - the same five players conceded only one goal in two matches. It was a corner in the first leg against "Dynamo", and we kept a clean sheet against "Newcastle"," said Martinez.

"I felt that mutual understanding would be very important today. Both teams looked good on paper, but our team simply defended poorly."

"The second goal was scored after a cross and sometimes you just can't control such situations. It's not the players' fault. I think "Dynamo" were inspired by their fans and it helped them perform better."

"A few times we really made mistakes in defense, but the opponents also showed incredible finishing. Scoring the same goals in the same match again would be difficult."\
