Last summer, Saudi Arabian clubs attracted not only one well-known player from European clubs, but one of the most unexpected transfers was Ruben Neves' move from "Wolves" to "Al-Hilal".
The 26-year-old Portuguese was interested in such European giants as "Barcelona", but ultimately decided to turn to Saudi Arabia.
The move to Saudi Arabia far from met all footballers' expectations, but it seems that at least R. Neves enjoys playing in Asia.
"I don't feel a difference between the Saudi Arabian and European leagues. I definitely don't plan to return to Europe in the near future.
In the next two years, the Saudi Arabian league could become one of the best in the world. Players coming here are top class," R. Neves told "O Jogo" in an interview.
The Portuguese also revealed that last summer he was close to reaching an agreement with three European clubs.
"Last summer, I was in advanced negotiations with three clubs, but ultimately nothing happened.
I was closest to a transfer to "Barcelona", from which I even had a concrete offer.
There were also advanced negotiations with "Arsenal", but ultimately everything fell through," added R. Neves.
This season, the midfielder in Saudi Arabia has scored four goals and provided six assists in 28 matches.
