On Saturday, in the quarter-finals of the European Championship, the much-discussed and intriguing match between Portugal and Croatia took place.
The decisive moment in the evenly matched game came with a goal from R.Quaresma of Portugal, scored in the 117th minute - 1:0.
In the first half, both teams played cautiously and somewhat disappointed football fans who may have expected a different spectacle.
In the 25th minute, Pepe had a chance to score, but his header went over the crossbar.
After the break, the situation on the field didn't change much. A.Čačičiaus's players had a few opportunities to threaten the opponent's goal, but both D.Vida and M.Brozovič's shots were off target.
The teams had to play extra time, during which D.Vida had a chance after a corner kick, and soon after I.Perišić hit the post.
Quickly reacting, the Portuguese launched a counterattack - C.Ronaldo's shot was blocked by Subašić, but the ball fell to the unmarked R.Quaresma who easily directed it into the goal - 1:0.
The Croatians tried to equalize, but once again D.Vida missed a chance.
In the quarter-finals, Portugal will face the Polish national team.
