"Villarreal" received very bad news right at the beginning of the season - one of the main team forwards Roberto Soldado will have to miss matches for up to six months due to a knee injury.
The 31-year-old Spaniard suffered the injury in a friendly match against "Deportivo" La Coruna. While fighting for the ball, the forward fell to the ground and an unsuccessful landing resulted in a torn cruciate ligament.
R. Soldado immediately left the field and was taken to the hospital for further tests. It was revealed today that the footballer will need surgery and will have to miss more than half of the season after it.
Experienced forward scored eight goals in 43 matches played for "Villarreal" last season.
The "Submarine" faces a serious challenge on August 17th, when they will face "Monaco" in the first qualifying match for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
