The Netherlands national team and Hamburg defender Rafael van der Vaart suffered a serious injury in last weekend's Bundesliga match against Berlin's "Hertha".
The Dutch player was substituted in the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw, at the beginning of the second half. Hamburg's team captain tore a muscle in his leg and will be out of action for two months due to this injury.
R. van der Vaart will not be able to help the Dutch national team in the first European Championship qualifying matches against Luxembourg and Belarus, and will also miss the start of the UEFA Champions League.
The loss of one of the team's leaders will be a big setback for the "Hamburg" team. This team has not had a very successful start to the season - the first five matches in the German championship and Champions League ended in draws.
