Legendary Dutch footballer Ruud van Nistelrooy will start his coaching career in professional football from next season. PSV officially announced that after this season, current coach Roger Schmidt will be replaced by Ruud van Nistelrooy. According to recent rumors, R. Schmidt is expected to take over the helm at Lisbon's Benfica in the upcoming 2022-23 season. Meanwhile, R. van Nistelrooy has recently been an assistant coach for the Netherlands national team. The former striker has also managed the PSV under-19 youth team and the PSV Jong team, which plays in the lower Dutch division. During his career, R. van Nistelrooy has represented teams such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Hamburger, PSV, and Malaga. This season, the Eindhoven team is performing very successfully. PSV reached the quarterfinals in the Conference League and is fiercely competing with Ajax players for the championship title in the Eredivisie league.
