Stambul's "Fenerbahce" sniper Robin van Persie was seriously injured in yesterday's match against "Belediyespor.
The footballer from the Netherlands scored the first goal of the match, which ended 3-1, but after a collision with opponents on the field, he was taken off in the first half.
The 33-year-old veteran's face was covered in blood and he was eventually taken into the hands of emergency medical personnel.
Fortunately, van Persie did not suffer serious injuries and returned to watch the rest of the match in the second half.
"Van Persie received a blow to the eye, which was cut and bleeding," said Fenerbahce doctor John Kunduracioglu to Fanatik.
"After examination, we sent him to the hospital for further evaluation by an ophthalmologist. We found out that nothing serious had happened, so the situation is good.
We had to wait and see. If the injury had been more serious, the situation could have been much worse."
