R. Varane: C. Ronaldo wants to leave an eternal record © Reuters

Last year, Frenchman Raphaël Varane, who ended his professional career, spoke about the long-term plans of "Al Nassr" forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the former defender, his footballer acquaintance has set an extraordinary goal for himself.

"The Portuguese wants to ensure that in the future no one can break his records and thus leave his mark for thousands of years to come. It's hard to say where he finds the motivation to still play football at the age of 40, but the reason is not financial.

I believe it’s the desire to be unique. C. Ronaldo has never mentioned a specific age when he might hang up his boots. When he achieves one goal, he will march towards the next and will only stop when he can no longer continue," assured R. Varane.

The Frenchman confirmed that one of the forward's main goals is to score over a thousand goals throughout his career. The player currently has 924 accurate shots to his name.
