Former "Manchester United" defender Rafael admitted that he did not enjoy playing while representing Louis van Gaal's team.
The Brazilian defender left "Old Trafford" stadium in August and moved to "Lyon" team for a sum of 3 million euros, after failing to become a key player in van Gaal's team.
The 25-year-old footballer played only 11 matches last season and is still dissatisfied with how his seven-year career in England ended, despite now having a starting position in the lineup of his new team in the "Ligue 1" championship.
"Consistency in football is very important. When you play matches, you feel better. You enjoy the game more, and your physical form is better. When you don't play for a long time, it becomes very difficult for players."
"When L. Van Gaal arrived at the team, I could see that I am not in his plans. As a player, you can feel and see that. To be honest, I didn't like playing in the team when it was coached by a Dutchman. I like to enjoy the game and try new things. I didn't do that last season. Apart from the match against "Leicester City," in those 10 games, I think I played well. However, it's hard to say. I had the choice to stay in England, but I decided that I want to try something new. It is useful to challenge yourself with new experiences," said the former "United" defender.
Rafael also admitted that he understands why the "Red Devils" fans want a very attacking style of play and are dissatisfied with Louis van Gaal's current tactics.
"Everyone is different. Results matter, so if the club wins the league, it will be a completely different situation. I watched their matches and heard a lot of things... But it's difficult. Football is for the fans. They want to see good football," said Rafael.
This year in France, Rafael has already played more matches than in the entire previous season with "Manchester United" team - 11 matches in the "Ligue 1" championship and 5 matches in the Champions League.
