"Glasgow Rangers" continue to strengthen for the new season - the Scottish club has won the battle for the Swedish national team and "Gothenburg" defender Karl Svensson, who has signed a three-year contract with his new team. The amount that "Rangers" will have to pay to the Swedish club for the player is undisclosed.

The 22-year-old K. Svensson arrived at "Gothenburg" from Jönköping's "Södra" three years ago and this season became the team's captain. In January, the player made his debut for the Swedish national team in friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and now, having secured a place in the main lineup, he is preparing with the team for the World Cup.

Speaking officially to the "Rangers" website, the Swede first thanked his former club: "I will always be grateful to them, but in my career, this is a chance to progress. "Rangers" is a very big club and I know a lot about them. In Sweden, we can watch the Glasgow derby on TV, so I have already seen how everything looks at "Ibrox" stadium."

K. Svensson became the second major "Rangers" acquisition this offseason - recently the team was already joined by Czech national team defender Libor Sionko, who moved from Vienna's "Austria". In the defensive line, the Swede will take the place of the Greek Sotirios Kyrgiakos, who was released by the club, and in the center, he should form a duo with Julien Rodriguez.
