One of the strongest Greek teams in the Athens "Primera" league has acquired a defender from the Argentine national team and signed a two-year contract with him.

The 31-year-old left-back, whose contract with "Villarreal" expires this summer, did not use the option in his contract to extend his contract with the Spanish team for another season. He has been playing for the Spanish team since 2000 and has scored 11 goals in 217 Spanish league matches.

The Argentine, who spent seven seasons at "Villarreal," announced in mid-February that he will leave the troubled club in the summer and try his luck abroad.

Over the past few seasons, the defender played a very important role for the team in UEFA Champions League matches and scored goals in the semi-final matches against Glasgow "Rangers" and Milan "Inter."

"I am pleased to have signed a contract with "AEK". I know it's a club with a great history that has come a long way in recent years," said the former "Boca Juniors" player. - "They made a big impression in this year's UEFA Champions League tournament. My goal is to help "AEK" qualify for the prestigious European tournament again and try to do my best to help the club win the national championship next year."

Currently, "AEK" is in the 2nd position in the Greek league with one game left to play, which will give them the opportunity to play in the third stage of the UEFA Champions League next year.

Meanwhile, "AEK" has also suffered losses. The Greek club announced that another left-back, 27-year-old Argentine Martin Pautasso, has left the team.
