Raulis: "I don't want to leave 'Real'" © EuroFootball.com

"Madrird "’s long-time forward Raul denied rumors that the club is planning to release him after this season.

"I have not heard anything from the club about it and I am calm about my future, as there are still three years left until the end of my contract. Talk about my departure is probably spread by those who would like me to leave the team, but I do not know who that could be. I have been committed to Real for many years and have no desire to leave the team," the forward said at a press conference.

At the age of 29, Raul has been representing the Madrid club for the 13th season. During his golden period at Real, the Spaniard won the Spanish championship four times (1995, 1997, 2001, and 2003) and the Champions League three times (1998, 2000, and 2002).

In recent years, Raul has faced increasing criticism due to declining athletic form. Because of this, the Royal club's coach Fabio Capello often sidelines the footballer or leaves him on the bench.

"I am a goal scorer and I always want to be in the attack, but for the team's interests, I am ready to sacrifice and play in any position," said the Real veteran.

Since 2003, the title-less Madrid club is currently only competing in the Spanish league and after 30 matchdays, they are in the 3rd place, 5 points behind the leader Barcelona. Last weekend, Raul scored a goal, but Real lost to Racing Santander 1-2 after two doubtful penalty kicks.

Recalling those matches, Raul said: "We are very disappointed because we believe we could have won these matches. The referee made two mistakes and, of course, caused anger. However, we all make mistakes and I respect referees because they do a very difficult job."
