Gelsenkirchen officially confirmed that after this season, striker Raul will leave the team.
The 34-year-old veteran from Spain was offered to extend his contract, but both sides could not agree on the terms. Raul wanted to continue earning around 7 million euros, while the club offered him half of that amount.
The footballer arrived in Germany in 2010 from Real Madrid and immediately became one of the team's leaders. Last season, Schalke won the German cup and reached the Champions League semi-finals.
This season, Raul played 44 matches for Schalke and scored twenty goals.
It is rumored that he is being pursued by the Qatari team Al Rayyan.
