Argentinian national team defender Roberto Ayala has resolved his disagreements with the management and announced that he will stay at the Spanish club.
The 33-year-old center back asked to be sold earlier this month after accusing the club's management of not fulfilling their promise to extend his contract.
"Ayala will remain at the club at least until June 2007, when his contract ends," Valencia announced on their website after a meeting between the player and club president Juan Bautista Soler on Thursday. "During the season, we will renew negotiations for a possible contract extension. The player confirmed that he has no agreements with other clubs."
After Ayala expressed his desire to leave Valencia, "Villarreal" and "Real Madrid" immediately showed interest in the defender.
The Argentine, who moved from "Milan" to Valencia in 2000, helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2001, win the Spanish championships in 2002 and 2004, and the UEFA Cup in 2004.
