Former head coach, current strategist Rafael Benitez told journalists that the Spanish team could have violated the rules if their representatives had been in contact with Liverpool's striker Milan Baros.
"Valencia" president Juan Bautista Soleras recently told journalists that he had already talked to Liverpool's striker about a possible transfer, so R. Benitez says that his former club could have violated the rules.
"Negotiating with a player whose contract is still valid for two more years is prohibited," said R. Benitez. "I don't want to comment on this, we will discuss it within the club. As for Baros, I'm not worried. However, if what the president of "Valencia" says is true, we will have to look into it."
R. Benitez also stuck to his position regarding Michael Owen - the Spaniard said that no matter what he says, journalists will interpret his words as they please: "No matter what I say about Owen, people will interpret my words as they wish. Michael is a great player, but I am not inclined to talk about possible transfers until the season is over."
