Madrid's "Real" leadership ran out of patience - this upcoming summer a new left-back will be sought after.
This doesn't mean that Zinedine Zidane is unhappy with Marcelo's performance - there is no doubt that one of the team's leaders will continue to hold the starting position. This means that the "whites" ran out of patience with Fabio Coentrao, so the Portuguese will be sold after the season.
29-year-old F. Coentrao returned to Madrid this summer after a loan spell at Monaco. The left-back suffered a serious injury in France, which delayed his rehabilitation until November.
F. Coentrao played only four matches this season and started in only one of them. The Portuguese has health problems and usually trains in the gym rather than on the field with the team.
Real wants to find a suitable backup for Marcelo. They are not looking far - representatives of San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad" Yuri Berchiche and Barcelona's "Espanyol" 19-year-old Aaron Martin have caught their eye.
Both players have a release clause of 30 million euros in their contracts. According to "Marca," Real prioritizes the "Espanyol" player, who could potentially become the main left-back in the future.
However, Real may face competition - Manchester City also promises to fight for the young defender's signature from "Espanyol" this summer.
