However, the winning goal for "Barcelona" was scored in the 73rd minute. The author of this goal was not one of the Catalans' attacking trio, but the center-back Thomas Vermaelen, scoring his first goal for "Barcelona" club.
After a disappointing start of the season, Madrid's "Real" tried to rehabilitate in front of their fans against Seville's "Real Betis" team. Rafael Benitez's tactics did not disappoint this time - the "whites" crushed the league newcomers with a score of 5-0.
Among the winners, James Rodriguez stood out, scoring two fantastic goals. Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema also added two more goals and once again defeated the opponents' goalkeeper.
In other matches, San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad" drew 0-0 with "Sporting Gijon", while Vigo's "Celta" easily defeated Madrid's "Rayo Vallecano".
