On Wednesday, the first two quarter-final matches of the King's Cup tournament were played. In the first match, Madrid's "Real" welcomed Vigo's "Celta" footballers at home. Zinedine Zidane's students learned a harsh lesson - they suffered a 1-2 defeat in front of their own fans. The "Whites" dominated with the ball in the first half and created opportunities, but failed to score a goal in the first 45 minutes. The second half started again with both teams playing cautiously, but soon goals started pouring in. "Real" continued to have more possession of the ball, but in the 64th minute they were punished by a counterattack. Left completely unmarked on the right flank, the "Celta" winger sprinted and passed the ball into the penalty area. There, completely unmarked, Iago Aspas defeated Kiko Casilla with a precise strike. However, "Real" soon managed to equalize the score, when Marcelo scored a superb goal in one touch. Unfortunately, the hosts' stadium was only celebrated for a few moments - in the next attack, Lucas Vazquez lost the ball in the middle of the field and allowed the opponents' defender Jonny to score the second goal. In the remaining time, Karim Benzema had the chance to equalize the score, but the Frenchman failed to make a precise shot from just a few meters away, and "Real" suffered their second consecutive defeat. Zidane's students will have another chance to redeem themselves and advance to the King's Cup semi-final. The second leg of the quarter-finals will take place in Vigo on January 25. In other matches, "Deportivo Alaves" secured a victory in the final minutes with a score of 2-0 against "Alcorcon." Results: "Real Madrid" 1 - 2 "Celta" 64' [0 - 1] I. Aspas 69' [1 - 1] Marcelo 70' [1 - 2] Jonny "Alcorcon" 0 - 2 "Alaves" 90' [0 - 1] Ibai 90+4' [0 - 2] Ibai 90+1' C. Belivis (Alcorcon) sent off from the field
