"Real" Madrid won a 20 million euro case against the European Commission

The Madrid-based club "Real", experiencing financial growth, won the case against the European Commission.

It was announced on the official website of the club in the Spanish capital that the General Court of the European Union, examining the 2011 European Commission case, did not find any violations and annulled their decision.

The European Commission took action against the Madrid-based club "Real" claiming that in 2011 state aid was used to acquire land in the Las Tablas area.

However, after more than eight years, Madrid's "Real" club succeeded in the case and was fined 18.4 million euros. Another 2 million euros will be refunded for the payment to the Madrid City Council, which was also subject to the court's decision.

The European Commission will also cover the court costs.
