"Real" players resist accusations of beating and bullying by opponents

Madridthe „Atletico“ and „Real“ footballers on Tuesday evening separated without goals in the first UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches. As usual for Spanish teams, there was no shortage of incidents and emotions on the field, but referee Milorad Mažič handled the situation well and did not let it get out of hand. Only at the end of the match did the Serb have to pull out a few yellow cards. Nevertheless, „Atletico“ players poured their bile on Mažič after the match.

„The referee worked very poorly. You can't appoint a referee from Serbia for such matches, he did not match the level“, – said „Atletico“ defender Mario Suarez after the match, who will have to miss the return leg due to a yellow card.

The home team members were particularly angry after the match for the referee allowing to „hit“ striker Mario Mandžukič.

The Croatian has a reputation of a player not always able to control his emotions, but the „Real“ players behaved roughly towards the opponent.

In one episode, „Real“ defender Sergio Ramos hit M.Mandžukič in the face with his elbow, causing immediate bleeding. After the match, „Los Blancos“ defender claimed that he did it accidentally.

„I do not appreciate the referee's work and individual episodes – that's the referee's job. I definitely did not want to hit M.Mandžukič, I didn't know where he was“, – said S.Ramos.

In another episode, „Atletico“ forward clashed with defender Daniel Carvajal, who was accused of trying to pinch the opponent's hand. When asked what happened between the two players, the video does not provide a clear answer.

„After the match, I was accused of trying to pinch the opponent. I want to say that I never bit anyone, I never even attempted to do so“, – immediately wrote D.Carvajal on his „Twitter“ account after the match.
