On Sunday, four matches of the 13th round of the Spanish "La Liga" championship were played.
The first match took place at the "El Madrigal" stadium, where the local "Villarreal" faced "Deportivo Alaves". The league newcomers won 2-0 against the hosts, who suffered their second consecutive defeat.
In the 8th minute, "Alaves" broke through with a goal by Ibai, and increased their lead in the 17th minute. The "Submarine" defender played insecurely in their penalty area and allowed Victor Camarasa to easily send the ball into their goal.
"Villarreal", experiencing their second consecutive defeat, remains in fourth position with 22 points, but after this round, they may drop three positions further down.
In other matches, Madrid's "Atletico" tried to recover from a lost city derby in Pamplona. Diego Simeone's team won 3-0 against the home team.
"Osasuna" had a chance to advance in the 14th minute but failed to score from the penalty spot. Later, Diego Godin, Kevin Gameiro, and Yannick Carrasco scored for Atletico.
Another match ended with a victory for "Celta" with a score of 3-1 against "Granada".
At 21:45 Lithuanian time, "Barcelona" played away against San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad". The Basques, who dominated almost the entire match, did not secure a victory against the Catalans - the match ended in a draw.
In the first half, there were no goals, but in the 53rd minute, Willian Jose scored for the Basques. However, the hosts did not enjoy the lead for long - after a brilliant pass from Neymar, Lionel Messi equalized the score.
During the remaining time, "Real Sociedad" did not intend to retreat to defense and had several great opportunities to score. Carlos Vela hit the post twice, and once a goal was disallowed due to offside, but upon video review, it was impossible to see.
"Barcelona" lost crucial points before the upcoming "El Clasico" match next weekend. The Catalans now increased their gap from leaders Real Madrid to 6 points.
