On Thursday, all matches of the 37th round of the “La Liga” championship were played, after which the new country champions were revealed. After a three-year hiatus, the title was regained by the Madrid “Real” footballers, who beat “Villarreal” 2:1 at home and became unbeatable. Karim Benzema led the royal club to victory in this match, scoring in the 27th minute to put his team ahead, and converting a penalty kick in the 77th minute to double Real's advantage. Vicente Iborra scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 83rd minute. Real sent the ball into the goal again in added time, but Marco Asensio's goal was cancelled after a VAR review. The royal club became the Spanish champion for the 34th time.

In other matches, Barcelona suffered an unexpected defeat, losing 1:2 at home to Osasuna. The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute after a goal by Jose Arnaiz. L. Messi equalized in the 62nd minute, but Osasuna remained at a disadvantage in the 77th minute when Gallego Enricas was sent off. Nevertheless, the visitors extended their lead in the 94th minute through Roberto Torres.
