Two years after the plans to renovate the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium were announced, the "Real" team is starting work.
It is reported that the renovation works, costing almost 400 million euros, will begin in a few months.
The president of the Madrid team, Florentino Perez, hopes to raise money from the sale of the arena's name.
"The stadium will continue to be called 'Bernabeu', but it may have an additional name, as is the case elsewhere, which will help pay for the work done," the manager said.
The current arena has been the home of "Real" since 1947 and was reconstructed before the 1982 World Cup.
