The best player of the 2017 African Nations Cup was Christian Bassogog, who helped Cameroon triumph in the tournament after a 15-year hiatus. The forward played well in both the final, which his national team won 2-1 against Egypt, and in earlier stages. The 21-year-old 'Aalborg' player also delighted his country for the first time since 2002 with the award for best player. The last player to receive such an honor was Rigobert Song. Before him, players such as Austin Okocha, Abedi Ayew, Christian Chukwu, Benni McCarthy, and Rabah Madjer had received the award.
Congratulations to C. Bassogog who is the Total Man of the Competition! What an amazing tournament! #CAN2017 #FootballTogether pic.twitter.com/4ghnjIWQ89
