This season, the impressive form demonstrated by "Nice" forward Mario Balotelli could see him return to his national team.
Italy's national team coach Giampiero Ventura revealed that he is interested in the 26-year-old footballer's game.
"Just a couple of months ago, the forward hadn't played for a year and a half. It's impossible to turn everything around in eight weeks, but it must be acknowledged that the player plays an important role in the 'Nice' club," the specialist said.
"I intend to speak with Mario and hear his expectations. We are open to everyone."
M. Balotelli has represented the national team 33 times, but this number has not increased for a couple of seasons since the scandalous striker fell into a playing pit.
This Saturday, the Italian team will play a World Cup qualifying match against Liechtenstein.
