On Tuesday at 19:55 in the evening, the first two matches of the second round of the UEFA Champions League from Groups A and C took place.
A true sensation was recorded at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium, where Madrid's "Real" failed to achieve victory against "Club Brugge". Trailing by two goals after the first half, "Real" only managed to equalize at the end of the match, which did not bring much positivity to the "white" fortress.
A few seasons ago, the "Real" did not find equals in the Champions League, and now after two rounds they occupy the last place in the tournament table, although they are only separated by one point from the second position, currently held by "Club Brugge".
Madrid's "Real" started the match quite loosely and lost possession of the ball multiple times in dangerous areas. One of these errors in the 9th minute led to a goal, when Emmanuel Dennis unexpectedly sent the ball into Thibaut Courtois' goal.
Another heavy blow to the home team was dealt at the end of the first half - a mistake in the middle of the field by Luka Modric gifted the ball to the opponents, and Dennis once again ran ahead and increased the visitors' lead to two goals.
In the second half, "Real" completely pressed their opponents, but did not have real opportunities in the first five minutes.
The hope in the match was ignited by Sergio Ramos' goal after Karim Benzema's pass. There were still more than 35 minutes left until the end of the match.
"Real" attacked their opponents, but the equalizing goal was only scored in the 85th minute - after the visitors' captain Ruud Vormer was sent off the field, in a set-piece situation Toni Kroos lifted the ball into the penalty area, and Casemiro directed it into the top corner of the goal with a header.
Throughout the remaining time, the hosts besieged the opponents' goal, but their attempts to send the ball into the goal did not pose major problems for Simon Mignolet.
In the matches of Group C, an excellent football show was also recorded: Donetsk's "Shakhtar" made a comeback from a goal deficit and in the 95th minute extended their victory over "Atalanta".
