Members of the Lithuanian football community received an invitation to come to the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on Wednesday presented the vision for the development of Lithuanian football.

Present at the Seimas were the President of the Lithuanian Football Federation Edgaras Stankevičius, 2nd Vice President Gintautas Mirauskas, 3rd Vice President Diana Jonaitienė, Executive Committee member Deivis Kančelskis, current coach of the Lithuanian national team Edgaras Jankauskas, legendary Lithuanian coach Algimantas Liubinskas, as well as TOPsport A league president Gintaras Staniulis and vice president Janas Nevoina.

They all attended the Youth and Sports Affairs Committee meeting and had the opportunity to present the vision for the development of Lithuanian football and the possible contribution of the state to it.

"We want to thank the members of the Seimas who generously agreed to receive football representatives and hear about the current state of this sport in Lithuania and the challenges it faces,"

In the Committee meeting, we discussed that the state's contribution to the growth of football should not necessarily be directly financial - the state can provide a significant boost by contributing to the improvement and development of infrastructure, as well as by resolving the issue of informal education pathways, thereby giving young people more opportunities to engage in sports.

As mentioned during the meeting by the committee chairman Virgilijus Alekna, the goal of the meeting was not to make specific decisions here and now - we just wanted to present our position, hear the assessments of the members of the Seimas, and lay the groundwork for further cooperation," said E. Stankevičius.
