“Premier League” fans could have seen Lionel Messi playing for “Manchester City” team.
“The Athletic” newspaper’s “Barcelona” journalist Pol Ballus revealed that in 2020 L. Messi had one foot in the “Manchester City” club.
According to the journalist, in 2020 a fax was sent to then “Barcelona” president Josep Maria Bartomeu regarding this transfer.
At that time, the Argentine had serious discussions with Pep Guardiola and started negotiations with the Manchester club regarding contract terms.
However, Bartomeu, having the final say, did not allow this transfer to happen. A year later, L. Messi left the Catalan club due to poor financial situation and then moved to PSG team.
