"Manchester United" legend Ryan Giggs praised "Barcelona" midfielder Xavi.
The 34-year-old Catalan surpassed the Manchester icon this week in terms of matches played in the Champions League - 151.
"It's always unpleasant to lose a place in the record table, but the fact that I am now in the same line as a player of Xavi's caliber saddens me less," said Giggs.
"Xavi reminds me of a chess player. He always moves ahead of other players by 2-3 steps. To me, he is one of the best footballers of all time, who played for one of the best teams," Giggs said.
"The midfielder is very intelligent, but always remains very humble. He has traits similar to Paul Scholes."
