Ricardo, the goalkeeper of the Pamplona team playing in the Spanish "Primera" league, has signed a new two-year contract with the club and will defend the team's colors until 2009.
The 34-year-old player's contract was automatically extended for another year because he represented his club in 60 percent of the matches since moving from the English champions "Man Utd," and the club wanted the goalkeeper to continue his services for an even longer period.
This season, Ricardo wore the Pamplona city team's kit only a few times, but news of his extended contract came out four days after Ruud van Nistelrooy helped Real Madrid defeat Osasuna 4-1 by scoring four goals over the weekend.
Osasuna, who had a great season last year, finished 4th in the country's championship and secured a spot in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, but lost to the German team Hamburger SV, so the club continues its campaign in the UEFA Cup. Currently, the team's position in the Spanish "Primera" league is not enviable – they are in 17th place.
