Rights for broadcasting of "Premier" league sold for impressive amount

Two television companies have extended cooperation with the English Premier League.

BBC reports that Sky Sports and BT Sport have acquired the majority of the rights to broadcast the most powerful English championship matches for an impressive sum of 4.464 billion pounds sterling.

The new deal will be valid for the years 2019-2022.

Under the current agreement, the companies broadcasting the Premier League had paid 5.14 billion pounds sterling, but the contract was valid for longer years (2015-2019).

Currently, only the leagues in the USA - NFL (American football), NBA (basketball) and MLB (baseball) - generate more money in the world.
