The Qatar Football Federation officially announced that Brazilian football star Rivaldo will be playing in Qatar next season.
The director of the Qatar Football Association, Manfred Honeris, said that Rivaldo has been in Qatar for three days already and is looking for a place to settle.
In the battle for the Brazilian player, several clubs were interested. A Scottish club offered him a trial period, while an English club had already presented a contract offer. But according to Honeris, Rivaldo chose Qatar only for the money, and that is the player's only motivation.
The exact amount that will be paid to the Brazilian player is not disclosed, but it is known that he would have earned about £30,000 per week at Celtic, while Qatar offered him significantly more.
It is believed that the player was informally notified that if he goes to play in Qatar, we will no longer see him representing Brazil's national team.
