Robinho faces a long spell in limbo

Brazilian Minister of Women, Family, and Human Rights Damares Alves demands to imprison former "Real", "Milan", and "Manchester City" forward Robinho, writes lrytas.lt. "Without further delay - prison, I have nothing else to say. Appeal is still possible. Prison. No rapist should go unpunished. The boy wants to return to the square to play the hero," the portal quotes the minister. On October 10th, the 36-year-old Robinho moved from Turkey, where he played for one season, to his homeland and signed a contract with the "Santos" team, where he began his career. He agreed to receive a salary of just 270 US dollars per month, in order to help the club manage its financial crisis. However, just after 6 days, "Santos" suspended the validity of the contract, stating that in this way he was already helping the footballer prepare for trial in Italy, where he is accused of group rape. In 2017, the Milan court found the then 33-year-old Brazilian and five other individuals from Brazil guilty of group rape, with the victim being a 22-year-old Albanian. The crime took place on January 23, 2013. Robinho denied the charges and said he would appeal the decision. In the fall, the Italian court sentenced Robinho to 9 years in prison, and the athlete is still trying to find luck in the appeals court.
