Rodri on working with Simeone and Guardiola: "Different philosophies, but both are winners"

This summer, Spanish national team midfielder Rodri, who has risen to prominence in the "Manchester City" team, talked about the peculiarities of training while working with Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone. Rodri played for Madrid's "Atletico" team last season and had the opportunity to get to know the Argentine's philosophy more closely. "Very different philosophies," Rodri said about working with P. Guardiola and D. Simeone. "Both coaches have different visions of the game and different training programs, but both are winners," the Spaniard said. When asked if P. Guardiola was the main reason why he chose to come to "Man City," Rodri replied: "I can't say. I think it's more because of the whole project, although, of course, I'm happy to work with him. He helps me a lot and we hope to create something special with this team." Talking about his game, Rodri didn't hide that in the "Man City" team he had to face new challenges. "First of all, I learned more about myself as a player. One day the coach asked me to play as a center back and I had no choice but to take up this position. It takes time to adapt, but I think with my physical and technical attributes I coped well with the new tasks. The center back position is very similar to a "pivot" midfielder, just maybe a bit more subtle. I think over time I could make a better impression in this position," added the defensive midfielder.
