"Roma" is looking for a new coach © EuroFootball.com

Since coach Fabio Capello signed a contract with Turin, the vice-champion of Italy must look for a new strategist.

At the moment, the main candidate seems to be Claudio Ranieri. The Italian coach trained last season, but Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich is likely to fire him, as he is already negotiating with Champions League-winning coach Jose Mourinho.

Ranieri was born in Rome and has been a fan of the "Roma" team since childhood. He admitted to a local radio station that he would be willing to coach his favorite club: "I am a 'Roma' fan, and of course, I would like to return here. I would even take risks for this club, but first I would like to know that there is some kind of project."

The coach likely had in mind the financial problems plaguing "Roma." Due to large debts, the club had to sell Walter Samuel, fail to renew contracts with Jonathan Zebina and Francescu Lima. Contracts for Emerson also expire next year, so he should also be sold. In order for "Roma" to remain among the leaders in Serie A, they will need to look for new players, otherwise the club's symbol Francescas Tottis might consider leaving. One of the players who could strengthen the weakened defensive line is Philippa Mexes from France. The French press is already reporting that negotiations are underway for his transfer.

Among other possible candidates for the vacant coaching position is another "Roma" fan, currently coaching Serse Cosmi. Less likely candidates are Cesare Prandelli from Italy and Luigi Del Neri also from Italy. However, the former seems to be interested in "Porto," who are looking to replace Mourinho, and if "Fiorentina" were to return to Serie A after a two-year break, they would probably want to hire Prandelli.
