One of the most titled stars of a Spanish club, Brazilian Ronaldinho, stated that in the upcoming season he would like to become the team captain.

Since both former captains Luis Enrique and Phillip Cocu left the club, which aims to win the first Spanish championship title in the new century next year, the most logical candidate to take the vacant position would be Carles Puyol, but Ronaldinho expressed a strong desire to become the team captain.

"To be the captain of such a powerful club is my dream," Ronaldinho told the Spanish sports newspaper "Marca." "I haven't said anything to my teammates yet, but I believe they respect me and I will be able to motivate them for the fight."

Coming to "Barça" in such an impressive way, the Brazilian player played so well that London's Roman Abramovich was ready to offer a huge sum to attract this player. However, Ronaldinho himself stated that he never even considered the possibility of leaving the Catalan superclub.

"I never thought about leaving 'Barça,'" said the former 'Gremio' player. "In my mind, I was always in Barcelona and I never even considered leaving."

"I think I am an important player for the team," said Ronaldinho. "I would like to become a role model for the younger players of the club."
